With rain threatening the skies over Norwich's waterfront, Museum of Connecticut History's curator, Patrick Smith, gathered a group of Connecticut history enthusiasts at Howard T. Brown Memorial Park on Friday for a 'Hiking Through History' walking tour of Norwich. The forecast didn't bother anyone, as one group member, Lou Pacchione, from Sandy Hook, offered his friend, Nancy Ziegler, a spare rain poncho. Spanning the range of Norwich's historical landscape encompasses the bustling seaport of the 1600s, to the epicenter of trade and commerce in the 1700s and 1800s, the mills and industrial boom that permeated throughout the 20th century, the Victorian Era architecture, to Norwich's Native American heritage, all set against the backdrop of Connecticut's natural beauty.
