Norwich ― The annual wreath-laying ceremony at the tomb of Samuel Huntington _ former governor, president of the Second Continental Congress and signer of the Declaration of Independence _ will be held Saturday. The 10:30 a.m. ceremony at Huntington's tomb in the Norwichtown burying ground on Old Cemetery Lane, is free and open to the public. The event is held each July to honor Huntington's birthday, July 16, 1731 in Scotland. Huntington was a self-taught attorney who practiced and lived in Norwich when he rose to become a prominent Connecticut leader.
