Dime Bank's newest branch has opened in Vernon. (Chris Dehnel/Patch )VERNON, CT — A shiny new Dime has emerged on Route 83 in Vernon and it has broadened the banking landscape in town. Dime Bank officially opened at 135 Talcottville Road Monday. OK, it began servicing customers on Nov. 29 after a soft opening, but it was officially welcomed to the community by town officials Monday. The Dime Bank branch is occupying the site of the former Farmington Bank branch. It commemorated the occasion by presenting two checks for community donations, including to fund fuel assistance and the Hockanum Valley Community Council.
