National Beer Day has been around since 1933, and marks the first day that beer was allowed to be sold following President Franklin Roosevelt's signature on the Cullen–Harrison Act, which allowed for the sale of beer with an alcohol volume of 3.2% or less. All this mattered back then, because Prohibition was not repealed until December 1933.
