NORWICH — As Derell Wilson (D) had to resign his Norwich City Council seat in January to be a State Representative, there's an election on May 24 to fill his seat. Democrat Shiela Hayes, a first time candidate but a long time activist and community leader, is running against Republican Bill Nash, who has served on the Norwich City Council before. Hayes' platform focuses on revitalizing downtown, including promoting business and home ownership, along with promoting arts and tourism for the city. Nash's platform is saving the taxpayer money, including finding ways to be fiscally responsible with the ongoing school building project, as long as the council members are trying to make Norwich a better place.
